I once tried to be a tortoiseshell snob, but I have found that music simply sounds better when played with a nice thick clownbarf pick.

for sources of this plastic, be it in pick form, or better yet, sheet form.
I make picks from sheets of this stuff, and use it for pickguards and binding
on some instruments.
